About Winfrith House

Winfrith House is a residential care home in Hampshire, supporting younger adults with a learning disability or autism. Details of the most recent CQC inspection are set out below.

Winfrith House is a residential care home supporting up to two younger adults with a learning disability or autism. Following a safeguarding concern, the CQC found significant and widespread failings, with six breaches of regulation covering safeguarding, staffing, consent, person-centred care and governance. Medicines management was unsafe, overnight staffing did not match people's needs, and previous breaches had not been resolved.

Inspectors found staff kind, attentive and skilled at understanding people's communication and de-escalating distress, and a relative spoke positively about staff. However, care records were inconsistent, mental capacity assessments lacked detail, and oversight from management was insufficient to ensure safe, consistent care. The rating reflects requires improvement overall, with safety rated inadequate.
