West Eaton Nursing Home

West Eaton Nursing Home accommodates up to 33 older people, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. The home supported residents to maintain connections with people important to them through various means, helping to reduce social isolation. Meal times were staggered and sufficient space was available for social distancing to keep residents and others safe during the pandemic.

Staff followed current guidance for safe professional visits and the home undertook whole-home Covid-19 testing in line with guidance to prevent transmission of infection. Workmen refurbishing part of the home during inspection were also tested. The registered manager delivered creative infection prevention training sessions to staff using specialist equipment to demonstrate effective handwashing, helping staff understand how Covid-19 spreads and the importance of preventing transmission.
