Wessex Lodge Nursing Home

Wessex Lodge Nursing Home provides nursing care for up to 40 adults and was supporting 38 people at the time of the assessment. The CQC rated the service as Requires Improvement overall, following concerns about safe care, staffing and governance. Inspectors found a breach relating to good governance, with weak quality monitoring, gaps in risk assessments, medicines records and mental capacity documentation, and some incomplete employment checks.

Despite this, inspectors found staff were kind, caring and well-supported by the manager, and people were involved in planning their care. Feedback on staffing levels was mixed, particularly at weekends and evenings, but families praised the food, activities and atmosphere, describing staff as attentive and respectful.
