Waterloo House

This 35-bed care home currently supports 18 residents in an adapted building. The recently appointed manager has quickly earned staff trust and begun establishing a positive culture, working with external consultants and head office support to address previous inspection concerns. Improvements have been made to moving and handling practices, special diet provision, recruitment checks, premises safety, and staff training.

However, several areas require further development. Care plans contain outdated or contradictory information, and auditing and monitoring systems for quality and safety remain insufficient. The home has not consistently upheld residents' rights under the Mental Capacity Act, and infection prevention systems are not reliably effective. The provider failed to notify CQC of some significant events, which is under regulatory review.
