Victoria Grand

Victoria Grand accommodates up to 26 people, including older people, those with dementia, and younger adults, across a three-storey adapted building with lift access. At inspection, 13 people were using the service. Inspectors found significant concerns about staffing levels, particularly at night and for social activities, which meant there were not always enough staff to provide safe and effective care. Risk management was inadequate, with environmental hazards and infection control risks not consistently identified or managed. Medicine administration lacked clear protocols in some areas, leaving staff without necessary guidance.

Mental health support was a particular concern, with staff lacking clear strategies to safely manage people experiencing distress or agitation. The service reported issues with infection prevention and control that increased risks of avoidable harm. People were spending most of their time in their rooms, with several reporting feelings of isolation, boredom and loneliness. These shortcomings indicated the home was not meeting people's needs effectively or maintaining adequate safety standards.
