Veronica House Nursing Home

Veronica House provides personal and nursing care to up to 52 people, including older people, people with dementia, younger people, and those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and autism. At inspection, 37 people were using the service. A high number of agency staff were deployed throughout the home, and people, relatives and staff reported this impacted the consistent and timely meeting of people's needs. People also noted that agency staff sometimes lacked knowledge of their individual choices and preferences. While risks were assessed and planned for safety, staff did not always have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support people. Medicines were safely managed, staff were recruited safely, and people were protected from abuse with staff understanding appropriate safeguarding procedures.
