Leabrook House Nursing Home

Leabrook House Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 40 people with physical disabilities or learning disabilities, with 34 people using the service at the time of inspection. Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible, with systems in place to identify risks and keep people safe. Safeguarding policies were in place and staff demonstrated knowledge about supporting people safely, with appropriate infection control measures and medicines management.

However, people did not always experience caring, person-centred care. While some staff interacted positively with residents, others were sometimes task-orientated in their approach due to staffing pressures, with people occasionally spending long periods without meaningful interaction. The service promoted independence and organised scheduled activities for people.
