Thurn Court

Thurn Court is a purpose-built care home accommodating up to 44 people with mental health needs, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, dementia, and older people. It includes a six-bed assessment unit for people discharged from hospital requiring short-term rehabilitation and care planning. At inspection, 33 people were using the service. Staff understood safeguarding procedures and medicines were managed safely with clear protocols in place. The home employed sufficient experienced staff who had undergone robust recruitment checks, with external contractors maintaining systems and equipment. Safe infection prevention measures were implemented.

The home had identified areas for improvement in recording risk mitigation actions in a timely manner, which the provider was already working to address. Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, using the least restrictive approach and acting in their best interests. Systems and policies across the service supported this practice.
