The Star Nursing Home

The Star Nursing Home provides nursing and personal care for older people, some of whom live with dementia, accommodating up to 30 people in one adapted building. At inspection, 26 people were living at the service. The registered manager had implemented twice-daily health and temperature monitoring, which enabled nursing staff to identify early signs of infection on at least four occasions beyond COVID-19 symptoms. The home does not use external agency staff, ensuring all staff work only at this service and reducing infection transmission risks. The manager had introduced assistive technology to minimise infection spread, including motion sensor lights throughout the building and in bedrooms to limit staff touching light switches, and had ordered new furniture that could be regularly disinfected.
