The Shieling

The Shieling is a residential care home supporting up to 10 adults with autism, learning disabilities, and sensory impairments. At the time of inspection, 8 people were living there. The home maintains a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment where staff manage risks effectively to keep people safe. Medicines are managed safely and staff support people to access healthcare services when needed.

Staff focus on people's strengths and promote independence, enabling residents to have fulfilling and meaningful lives. People are supported to participate in activities, access their community, and maintain family relationships. The service prioritises maximum choice and control, with staff supporting people in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. Policies and systems across the home reflect this commitment to person-centred care.
