The Rowans

The Rowans provides personal care and support for up to 12 people with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder, operating from two buildings on the same site. The main house accommodates up to nine people, while The Lodge houses up to three people. At the time of inspection, both buildings were at full capacity.

The service demonstrated strong infection prevention and control practices. Staff had access to sufficient Personal Protective Equipment including masks, gloves, aprons and hand sanitiser, and received training in proper donning and doffing procedures. People were encouraged to wash their hands and use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day, with staff helping them understand the importance of these practices. The provider recognised that masks affected communication and trialled alternatives, implementing a risk assessment to support people who needed clearer communication.
