The Old Vicarage Nursing Home

The Old Vicarage Nursing Home provides care for up to 45 older people, those with physical disabilities, and people living with dementia, accommodated across three parts of the building. At inspection, 43 people were using the service.

Inspectors identified several areas of concern. The service did not always respond effectively to risks, and systems failed to consistently identify lessons when things went wrong. Medicines were not always stored and recorded safely, and not all staff had received required training to deliver care safely. Safeguarding systems were not always effective in protecting people from abuse. While the service generally worked within Mental Capacity Act principles, staff could not always describe how they would act in people's best interests during care delivery. Infection prevention and control concerns were noted, though the provider was aware and had a plan in place.
