The Old School House

The Old School House provides personal care and accommodation for up to 7 people, with individual bedrooms and shared communal spaces including lounges, a kitchen, and garden area. At inspection, 3 people were receiving care. The service had made improvements following the last inspection and demonstrated how it met most principles for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. Staff had refreshed their safeguarding training and knew how to respond to concerns, keeping people safe from abuse. Individual care and support plans reflected people's needs, wants and wishes.

However, further improvements were needed in several areas. The provider's quality monitoring systems required strengthening, and people needed greater engagement in developing activities that were functional and enjoyable while building on their existing skills. Additionally, improvements were needed regarding the identification and recording of people's wishes and preferences as they approached the end of life.
