Beech Spinney

Beech Spinney is a residential care home providing personal care for up to seven people with learning disabilities and/or autism. At the time of inspection, five people were receiving care at the home. Staff were fully trained in infection prevention and control and wore appropriate personal protective equipment in line with current guidance. The home supported residents to maintain contact with relatives through supervised window visits while following social distancing measures. When residents tested positive for Covid-19, they were immediately isolated and cared for by a separate cohort of staff in a self-contained unit to minimise transmission risks. The provider had completed virtual health reviews with local commissioners to create comprehensive Covid-19 health passports, ensuring hospitals had up-to-date information if residents required admission. Mental capacity assessments were carried out appropriately, with relevant professionals involved in making decisions in residents' best interests when capacity was lacking. A pandemic committee met regularly to ensure the home remained compliant with current Covid-19 guidance.
