The Laurels Residential Care Home

The Laurels Care Home provides personal and nursing care to 36 people across three units, two of which specialise in supporting people living with dementia. The service has capacity for up to 40 residents. People were happy with the care and support they received, and staff supported them to have maximum choice and control over their lives in the least restrictive way possible. Residents felt safe at the service, received their medicines when needed, and felt listened to when voicing their views.

Safe recruitment practices were in place to help ensure only suitable staff were employed. People's needs and wishes were assessed before moving into the service, and they were cared for by experienced staff who received appropriate support in their roles. The service provided access to facilities and services that met residents' cultural needs both within the home and in the local community. Inspectors made two recommendations regarding the systems for reviewing management of hazardous cleaning materials and storage of personal effects.
