The Knoll

The Knoll supports up to seven people with learning disabilities or mental health issues in a large converted house with community access. The registered manager and staff demonstrated strong commitment to safeguarding during the pandemic. The manager moved into the service to oversee care and implemented safety protocols ahead of government guidance, including health checks and screening for all visitors. When in-person visits weren't possible, people maintained contact with relatives through video and telephone calls, and advocates were accessible via video calling. Staff received appropriate training and PPE, with enhanced infection control measures implemented throughout the home.

The service supported people's access to healthcare safely through video consultations and social distancing where possible, with staff support provided for in-person appointments when necessary. The manager actively promoted wellbeing through activities, utilising resources from day centres to maintain engagement and quality of life.
