The Highgate Care Home

The Highgate Care Home provides personal and nursing care to people with complex physical and cognitive support needs across four separate units. The home accommodates up to 52 people, with 41 living there at the time of inspection. Following previous feedback about accessibility, the provider has commenced installation of a new lift to better accommodate stretchers and specialist wheelchairs.

Staff maintain up-to-date, person-centred care plans and risk assessments that detail individual needs, preferences, and specific guidance for support. Care plans are reviewed and updated immediately when people's needs change. The home has improved its approach to modified diets, with staff trained to taste food and verify texture suitability before serving to people at risk of choking. People reported enjoying the food and receiving choices. Medicines are stored and administered safely throughout the service.
