The Grange - Benenden

The Grange Benenden accommodates up to 19 people in need of personal care and support, with 16 residents living there at the time of inspection. Residents have varied needs including learning disabilities, and the service operates from an adapted three-storey home. The home demonstrated good practice in supporting residents' connections with family and friends, enabling telephone and internet contact alongside in-person visits. The service had implemented protective measures including screened visits in a specially built garden visiting pod, with staff consulting relatives about visiting arrangements in line with government guidance.

Infection control measures were well-established throughout the home. Adequate supplies of personal protective equipment were available at stations across the service, and staff had plans in place to isolate residents with COVID-19 to minimise transmission. Visitors underwent health screening, temperature checks, and lateral flow tests before visits, with hand sanitisation and PPE requirements implemented on arrival.
