The Gables

The Gables is a residential care home providing support to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. Following an earlier requires improvement rating, the CQC found the service has improved and is now rated good overall. Inspectors found staff to be caring, competent and attentive, with people receiving medicines safely and living in a homely, well-maintained environment.

People and relatives spoke positively about the care provided and felt well looked after.

A new registered manager has strengthened governance since the last inspection, and previous breaches around premises and staff recruitment have been resolved. However, the CQC found some audits and records still needed further work, meaning the service remains in breach of regulations relating to good governance. The provider has been asked to submit an action plan addressing this.
