The Gables Care Home

The Gables Care Home, in Derbyshire, is a residential home for up to 23 adults, including people living with dementia. The CQC rates the service as Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found medicines were not always safely managed, with stock discrepancies and gaps in recording, and care plans did not always give staff enough detail to manage known risks.

Some of these issues had not been picked up by the provider's own audits, though action was taken quickly once raised.

Elsewhere, inspectors found people were treated with kindness and staff knew them well, with good staffing levels and timely care. Care plans reflected people's preferences, and relatives had opportunities to give feedback, although some said communication from management could be inconsistent.
