Symphony House Nursing Home

Symphony House Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 25 older people and those with physical disabilities across two floors. The home offers private en-suite bedrooms, communal lounge and dining areas, with lift access to the second floor. While residents felt safe and staff were trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns, systems to protect people from abuse were not always followed during admission. Individualised risk assessments were in place, though guidance and mitigation measures for staff were inconsistent. Environmental risks including fire, water safety and hygiene were regularly checked and assessed.

The home did not always support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, as mental capacity assessments were generalised across all decisions rather than considering what individual decisions people could make independently.
