Sydenham House

Sydenham House accommodates up to 19 older adults, including those living with dementia, physical disability and sensory impairment. At inspection, 16 people were resident in the adapted building. The service supports people to have maximum choice and control of their lives, with staff working in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. People and their relatives felt safe at the service, and staff understood their responsibility to report concerns and poor practice.

Inspectors identified several areas needing improvement. Risk assessments required strengthening, particularly around weight management, moving and handling, and nighttime support. The administration of medicines and management of environmental risks, including legionella and fire safety, also needed attention. The provider's quality auditing systems and service delivery processes required strengthening. The registered manager acknowledged these improvements and was actively working to address them.
