Summerley Care Home

Summerley Care Home provides personal care for up to 21 older adults with various needs including frailty, dementia and learning disabilities. At inspection, 19 people were using the service. However, residents, families and staff reported insufficient staffing levels to deliver person-centred care and support meaningful activities. Staff described feeling pressured to rush when supporting people.

Significant concerns were identified around medicines management, with records not always available or properly organised, increasing risks of unsafe administration. People discharged from hospital with additional health needs did not always receive appropriate assessment and planning. Those living with dementia did not consistently receive support aligned with current guidance. Incident records revealed potential gaps in how staff supported distressed people. The home's monitoring audits had failed to identify concerns about incident management, staffing, medicines and health risks. Staff recruitment followed safe procedures and received supervision with opportunities for feedback and development.
