Stonedale Lodge Care Home

Stonedale Lodge Care Home provides accommodation and personal care for people, with capacity for up to 180 people across six units, although only 50 people were living there at the time of assessment and nursing care was not being provided. The CQC rated the home inadequate and it remains in special measures, having previously been found in breach of regulations on safe care and good governance, breaches which continued at this assessment.

Inspectors found inconsistent recording of accidents and incidents, gaps in infection control and environmental safety, and delays in administering medicines. Staffing shortfalls affected morning routines and time spent with people, and governance systems failed to identify or resolve known problems. Staff were described as kind, but people and families reported long waits for support and uncertainty over who was managing the home.
