Stonedale Lodge Care Home

Stonedale Lodge Care Home provides personal and nursing care to over 150 people aged 65 and over across five specialist units in Liverpool, including support for those living with dementia. At inspection, 122 people were using the service. While governance and quality assurance systems exist, they remain ineffective, leaving people exposed to unsafe care. Risk assessments were often not reflective of current needs or lacked sufficient detail to guide staff safely, and medications were not always administered in line with best practice guidance. Safeguarding systems were in place but not always used effectively, with missed opportunities to protect people from harm.

Despite these concerns, some positive aspects emerged. Staff systems to identify and report abuse exist, and people told inspectors they liked the staff and felt safe at the home. However, dignity in care was inconsistent, with some people appearing unkempt and care plan language not always respectful. The service has shown a repeated failure to ensure delivery of safe, high quality care.
