Stoneacre Lodge Residential Home

Stoneacre Lodge accommodates 31 people requiring personal care, including some living with dementia. At inspection, 22 people were using the service. However, inspectors found significant safety concerns. The clinical waste store was overfull, upstairs carpeting was extremely worn, and clean and dirty laundry were stored together on the same trolley. The sluice room windowsill was damaged and difficult to clean. Staff were not consistently wearing personal protective equipment correctly, sometimes touching their masks or reusing gloves across different tasks.

Risk management processes were inadequate. Personal emergency evacuation plans were not up to date, people's weights were not regularly reviewed to monitor potential weight loss, and one person at high risk of pressure areas had not been reassessed since December 2021. Medication management also fell short of safe practice, with staff not consistently following established systems to ensure people received prescribed medicines as intended.
