About St Nicholas Care Home

St Nicholas Care Home is a nursing home in Sefton, providing personal and nursing care for older people, people living with dementia, autistic people and people with a learning disability. The findings from the most recent CQC assessment are set out below.

St Nicholas Care Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 176 people, and 62 people were living there at the time of assessment, including older people, people living with dementia, autistic people and people with a learning disability. The CQC found significant improvement since an earlier inadequate rating, with no ongoing breaches of regulations. Refurbishment had made the environment more homely, care plans were detailed and person centred, and people were supported to make decisions, learn and take part in community activities.

Inspectors found staff kind, attentive and respectful, though some staff turnover and reliance on agency workers led to occasional delays in care. Some residents felt food quality could improve, and a new chef was working to develop menus. The service is no longer in special measures.
