St Mary's

St Mary's provides personal and nursing care for up to 47 people, including those with dementia, mental health needs, and older adults. At inspection, 41 people were using the service in one adapted building. Care plans and risk assessments were person-centred and reflected people's current needs. Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible, with policies and systems in place to support this practice.

However, the service faced several challenges. Not all staff had received suitable training or support for their roles, with some requiring refresher training to safely meet people's needs. While staff did not receive regular supervision, they felt the registered manager was supportive and approachable. Medicines were managed safely overall, but guidance for staff about medicines prescribed on an 'as and when required basis' was not in place. Additionally, records relating to people's fluid intake were not regularly reviewed to ensure people had adequate hydration.
