St Mary's Care Home

St Mary's Care Home is a nursing home supporting adults of all ages with learning and physical disabilities, older people and those living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement, finding breaches relating to consent and to good governance. Inspectors identified shortfalls in mental capacity and best interests decisions, including a serious incident where someone left the home unsupervised overnight, and found the premises and staff training had not yet reached the required standard.

Despite this, people, relatives and staff spoke warmly about daily life at the home, describing kind, approachable staff and a friendly atmosphere. People were supported to attend college, volunteer and take part in activities, with one person saying, "I love it here," and a relative praising the manager's accessibility.
