St Catherine's Care Centre Limited

St Catherine's Care Centre provides nursing care for up to 34 people, including those with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and dementia. At the time of inspection, 29 people were living at the home. However, staffing levels were inadequate to meet people's needs. Several residents reported having to wait for care, and relatives expressed concerns that their family members were not receiving timely support. Call bell records confirmed people sometimes waited significant periods before staff responded. Staff themselves acknowledged difficulty responding promptly to requests.

Risk management was inconsistent. When weight charts showed one person had experienced significant weight loss, no action was taken in response. While care plans identified some people as needing regular repositioning to prevent pressure damage, care records did not demonstrate this was happening as frequently as required. Additionally, medicines were not always managed safely. Three of seven relatives who completed satisfaction surveys in 2023 stated the home was not well-staffed.
