Southdown Nursing Home

Southdown Nursing Home, in Sutton, provides nursing and personal care for up to 29 older people, many living with dementia. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding staff kind and attentive, with relatives praising compassionate, dignified care, including at the end of life.

However, inspectors found significant safety concerns, including unsafe window restrictors, tied-up call bells, an insecure front door and missing hot water in parts of the building. Staffing pressures, patchy record-keeping and weak governance meant issues were not consistently identified or resolved, and the home was found in breach of regulations on safe care and good governance.
