Sanford House Nursing Home

Sanford House Care Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 40 people aged 65 and over, some living with dementia. At inspection, 32 people were using the service across two units: Shannon unit cares for people with dementia, while Carrick unit serves those with nursing needs. The home demonstrated strong infection prevention and control practices, with all staff following national guidance on PPE use and adequate supplies maintained throughout. Staff had received additional training in infection control and Covid-19 procedures.

The service implemented comprehensive health monitoring measures, including Covid-19 testing for all staff and residents, daily temperature checks for both groups, and temperature and oxygen level checks for all visitors before entry. Clear infection control signage was displayed at the entrance and throughout the building. When feedback was given during inspection regarding PPE disposal practices, the manager made improvements within 24 hours to further strengthen practice in this area.
