Sandmar

This residential care home provides personal care to up to 13 people with mental health support needs in an adapted building. At the time of inspection, 11 people were living at Sandmar. People felt safe living there, and relatives expressed confidence in the care provided. The provider had implemented measures to manage risks and keep people safe, including good infection prevention and control practices developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people's support needs and worked effectively with health and social care professionals to coordinate care. People received support with medicines safely, and staff sought appropriate advice when necessary. Person-centred support plans gave staff clear information on how to meet individual needs. The management team had established systems to monitor the quality of service and make improvements where needed.
