Roden Hall Nursing Home

Roden Hall Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 68 people across three separate adapted areas. At inspection, 37 people were being supported. The home demonstrated good infection prevention and control practices, with daily cleaning schedules checked by the registered manager, a comprehensive visiting policy including COVID-19 screening and temperature checks, and staff trained in infection prevention procedures. The provider had created training videos on donning and doffing PPE and information cards to support staff compliance with current guidance. One-way systems were marked in corridors to encourage social distancing, and individual risk assessments were completed for staff identified as higher risk.

However, inspectors raised concerns about proposed extension beds, finding they did not meet infection prevention and control guidelines for a designated care setting. The unit was not adequately prepared to isolate people who had tested positive for COVID-19 separately from those who had not tested positive, which created a potential cross-infection risk.
