Riverbank provides personal care for up to 24 people with complex mental health needs, alongside 12 independent flats where residents receive staff support. At inspection, 22 people were receiving care in the home with a further 11 in the supported flats. People using the service spoke positively about their experience, describing good support from staff and managers. Inspectors observed caring relationships built on trust and mutual respect, with a friendly atmosphere where staff supported people in ways that took account of individual needs and preferences. Residents were encouraged to express their views and participate in decisions about their care.
The home had systems in place to protect people from harm, including proper medicines management. Staff received training in recognising and responding to abuse and understood their responsibility to report concerns. Safe recruitment practices were followed with appropriate checks ensuring only suitable staff were employed, and sufficient experienced staff were available to meet people's needs.
