Regent House Nursing Home

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 10 March 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of Assessment: 14 January to 3 February 2025. Regent House Nursing Home is registered to provide accommodation, personal and nursing care. This assessment was undertaken due to the age of rating since the last inspection. At the last inspection, people living with dementia were not always leading fulfilling lives and there was a lack of activities. During this assessment, we observed people taking part in activities. People, staff and relatives all confirmed that this had improved. An assessment has been undertaken of a service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability but is not registered as a specialist service. We found that some areas of practice needed improvement. People were not always referred to with dignity and respect. The wellbeing of staff was seen as important by the provider and the registered manager. However, there was mixed feedback from staff about whether they were supported by the management team. Some told us they were well supported but others told us that they didn’t feel supported or given the opportunity to raise workplace issues People were treated as individuals and encouraged to remain as independent as possible. Staff were kind and compassionate and enjoyed working and supporting people. The provider responded to incidents, safeguarding and accidents, sharing learning across the organisation. Staff had an awareness of safeguarding issues and were alert and quick to raise any concerns. Staff understood good infection control practice and had access to personal protective equipment as required. Staff worked with other health, and social care professionals to promote good outcomes for people. People were involved in decisions about their care and where they were able to provide consent, their views were respected. People and their relatives knew how to raise any concerns and were confident the service took it seriously and acted on it.
