About Quenby Rest Home

Quenby Rest Home in Essex is a residential care home providing support to up to 26 older people, including those living with dementia and long-term conditions such as Parkinson's Disease. It was rated Inadequate overall by the CQC, which found continued breaches around safe care, staffing, training, recruitment and management oversight. Inspectors took urgent enforcement action over fire safety concerns, and the service remains in special measures.

While staff were often described as kind, the CQC found care lacked personalisation, with limited activities, poor dementia awareness among staff and inconsistent staff deployment. Relatives raised concerns about boredom and reduced access to gardening and activities. Some improvements had been made to the building, but governance remained ineffective and lessons from past incidents had not been learned.
