Primrose House

Primrose House, in Gateshead, provides personal and nursing care for up to 65 people, including older people living with dementia and people with an enduring mental health condition. The CQC rated the home Good overall. A previous breach relating to medicines management had been resolved, and inspectors found care was safe, effective, caring and responsive, with people and most relatives speaking positively about kind, attentive staff.

However, well-led was rated Requires Improvement. The home had lacked a registered manager since 2023, with frequent changes causing concerns to be lost, and a new management team was still embedding improvements. The building needed full refurbishment, and some relatives raised issues with staffing levels and personal care attention.
