Portelet Cottage

Portelet Cottage is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 16 older people, some living with dementia. Care plans and risk assessments are person-centred, with staff known well by residents and relatives. Staff support people in a kind and compassionate way, respecting their dignity. Medicines are managed, stored, and administered safely.

People, relatives and health and social care professionals speak highly of the leadership and positive culture at the home. Relatives describe the staff team as "like family," with one commenting: "They have become like an extended family and treat my [loved one] like they are part of a big family. They always keep me updated if there are any worries and concerns." Residents are supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, with staff upholding their rights and supporting them in the least restrictive way possible.
