Poplars Nursing and Residential Care Home

This care home provides personal and nursing care for up to 60 people aged 65 and over across two floors of an adapted building with multiple communal lounges. At the time of inspection, 46 people were being supported. Staff numbers were sufficient to meet people's needs safely, and staff received appropriate training. The environment was clean and staff understood infection control practices well. People received their prescribed medicines correctly and were supported to eat and drink according to their needs and preferences.

However, quality assurance processes had not always identified where improvements were needed, and relatives felt communication about people's healthcare needs could be more effective. The home supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, using the least restrictive practices in their best interests. People had good access to healthcare professionals when required.
