Could the NHS fund Rider House Care Centre's fees?
NHS Continuing Healthcare could cover 100% of care costs with no means test.
Rider House accommodates up to 41 people requiring nursing care across two floors set within large grounds. The home features a central dining area with several lounges throughout. Staff administer medicines on time and have received appropriate training. People are protected from harm through completed risk assessments and safe recruitment practices, with incident reviews conducted regularly. The home maintains infection control standards and ensures residents receive balanced nutrition with regular access to drinks.
However, staff are often task-focused with limited time for meaningful engagement and activities with residents. Care is not always personalised to individual preferences and needs. While assessments follow current guidance and staff receive role-relevant training, the service would benefit from improved responsiveness to residents' requirements.
