Plane Tree Court

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 19 May 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

The assessment began on 17th March and concluded on 20th March 2025.

Plane Tree Court is a residential home which provides nursing and personal care for up to 66 people, across 3 floors.

The service provides support to people with dementia and physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection there were 50 people using the service.

During this assessment we looked at 32 Quality statements.

At this assessment we spoke with 13 staff members including the registered manager, quality assurance and compliance manager, nurses, kitchen and housekeeping staff and care staff. We found the provider had systems in place to help ensure people did not suffer abuse or come to avoidable harm.

Staff we spoke to knew how to keep people safe and report concerns. People’s medicines were not always managed safely, and we have made a recommendation to the provider regarding this. Staff received an induction, ongoing training, and felt supported by the management team. We recommended some improvements in the management of medicines and the provider had addressed these by the end of the assessment.

Staff encouraged people to be independent, treated people with dignity and respect and offered people choice. People’s needs were assessed. However, people were not always involved in their care planning. Some care plans lacked person-centred details, and we told the provider about this.

Feedback from people and staff was regularly sought. People and staff felt they could speak up and raise their concerns. There were processes in place regarding the provider’s oversight. However, these had not always identified areas of improvement for example regarding how people’s medicines were managed and administered. The provider had taken prompt action following our feedback.
