Stable Steps Care Centre

Stable Steps Care Centre provides personal and nursing care for up to 50 older and younger adults, most living with dementia or other cognitive impairments. The CQC rated the service requires improvement, finding continued breaches around person-centred care, safe care and treatment, and governance. Medicines and risk management were not always safe, and people with complex needs did not always receive effective, individualised support.

Staffing levels and recruitment had improved and were no longer breaches. Staff were generally described as kind, but people had limited access to outdoor space and community activities, and some felt call bells were not answered promptly. Inspectors found little evidence that people or their representatives were involved in care decisions.
