Penns Mount Residential Care Home

Penns Mount Residential Home accommodates up to 22 older people with care and support, though nursing care is not provided. At the time of inspection, 19 residents were living there. The home implemented comprehensive COVID-19 safety measures, including a separate building where visitors could don and doff personal protective equipment, wash hands, and undergo temperature checks. Visitors who were not regularly tested completed lateral flow tests before entering the main building. A visitor's pod in the grounds allowed relatives and friends to visit in warmth and privacy while maintaining safe distance, with all visits by appointment and the pod sanitised after each use.

The home maintained family connections through video calls, telephone calls, emails and social media during the pandemic. Residents coped well due to a positive staff group and a range of activities tailored to individual interests. Staff followed safe procedures to minimise the risk of transmitting COVID-19.
