The home had implemented effective visiting policies aligned with government guidance, with a dedicated staff member each day supporting visitors with COVID-19 testing, PPE provision, paperwork and safe escort to residents' bedrooms. The registered manager identified PPE stations as a risk and instead provided staff with wipeable waist bags to carry personal protective equipment, reducing potential contamination points. Staff completed training on keeping people safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and followed current government guidance when using PPE.
Regular infection prevention and control audits and spot checks ensured staff compliance with infection control procedures.
