Palmerston House Care Home, in Southend-on-Sea, provides residential care and support for older people, including those living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Good overall, having found that previous breaches around person-centred care, safe care and governance had been resolved, with clear improvements in oversight, safety systems and care planning.

Inspectors found staff to be kind, respectful and attentive, and most people felt safe and well cared for. Some relatives raised concerns about limited stimulation and activities, inconsistent involvement in care reviews, and variability in monitoring health needs such as weight loss, areas the CQC said still needed strengthening.
