Palm Court Nursing Home

Palm Court Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care for older people and those living with dementia, currently supporting 40 residents out of a capacity of 53. However, the service faces significant challenges with care documentation and planning. A recently implemented care planning system has not yet been embedded into staff practice, and people's care plans and risk assessments contain inaccurate information about how to support people safely. Daily records do not accurately reflect the care residents receive or daily events, with recording being inconsistent and incomplete, creating risks that safety-critical information may be missed. Accident and incident reporting processes require improvement to ensure proper identification and investigation.

Staff do not consistently provide person-centred care, and guidance for supporting people who become anxious or distressed is unclear, resulting in inappropriate staff responses when residents are upset. The range of activities offered is insufficient to keep people adequately engaged.
