OSJCT Westgate House

Westgate House provides residential nursing and personal care for older people, accommodating up to 61 residents. At the time of inspection, 59 people were living at the home. The service maintains strong links with health and social care providers, including the GP and Care Home Support Service's mental health team. Staff have successfully reduced the use of antipsychotic medicines through effective collaboration, with no residents currently using them. The registered manager has implemented new oral health initiatives aligned with NICE guidelines.

The home has established champions within its team who drive best practice improvements. The dementia champion actively implements current research-based dementia care and seeks involvement in practice guidance changes. Staff are highly skilled in supporting residents with behaviours that challenge, and the service demonstrates a commitment to identifying and embedding evidence-based approaches to enhance residents' quality of life and healthcare outcomes.
