Benson House Care Home

Benson House Care Home, in Oxfordshire, is a residential and nursing home providing personal care and nursing to up to 70 older people, including some living with dementia. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, following concerns raised about end of life care, medicine management and staffing. Inspectors found two breaches relating to safe care and treatment and good governance, as medicine records were not always accurate and audit systems failed to pick up these gaps.

Some staff also felt staffing levels were stretched, particularly on the dementia floor.

Despite this, the CQC found care to be kind and person-centred, with clear care plans, good activities and strong links with health professionals. People and relatives spoke positively about staff, describing them as caring and attentive, and leaders were described as passionate and supportive.
