The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 25 March 2024. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

The Meadows Care Home is a 68 bed residential and nursing care home for older people some of whom were living with dementia. This assessment included a site visit to the service by an inspector and 2 Experts by Experience on 23 January 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements; safeguarding, involving people to manage risks, safe and effective staffing, capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders as well as governance, management and sustainability. Risks were managed well, and staff were aware of them. People felt safe living at the service. Relatives felt the care people received was good and staff were kind and caring. Staff had received safeguarding training and knew how to report any safeguarding concerns. Risk assessments and management plans were completed where people were at risk of falls. Evidence showed accidents and incidents were managed safely and lessons were learnt. The service had employed enough staff to meet people’s needs. The provider followed safe recruitment processes. Staff told us the management team were capable, compassionate and inclusive. Relatives told us the new manager was approachable and visible in the home. Staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities and the provider supported them to maintain their professional development. The home was well managed with a new management team who worked well together. There was a clear management structure which aided the smooth running of the home. People and relatives told us the home was well-led and they knew the management team. Staff worked well together and felt supported by the management team. The provider had effective quality assurance systems which were used to improve care. Positive changes had been made which included the introduction of an electronic recording system as well as staff championship roles, this was where staff had lead roles in certain areas of the home.
