Orchardown Rest Home

Orchardown Rest Home, in East Sussex, is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 17 older people, some living with dementia, with 14 people using the service at the time of the assessment. The CQC rated the home Good overall. A previous breach relating to safe care and treatment had been resolved, with improvements to accident, incident and safeguarding processes, though inspectors noted care plans and risk assessments could be more person-centred.

Staff were found to know people extremely well and treated them with kindness, supporting activities, outings and healthcare appointments to reduce isolation. People and relatives spoke positively about the atmosphere, staff support and communication, describing the home as homely with lovely staff interactions.
